Grant, Almighty God, that since under the guidance of thy Son we have been united together in the body of thy Church, which has been so often scattered and torn asunder,

O grant that we may continue in the unity of faith, and perseveringly fight against all the temptations of this world, and never deviate from the right course, whatever new troubles may daily arise; and though we are exposed to many deaths, let us not be seized with fear, such as may extinguish in our hears every hope; but may we, on the contrary, learn to raise up our eyes and minds and all our thoughts to thy great power, by which thou quickenest the dead, and raisest from nothing things which are not, so that, though we be daily exposed to ruin, our souls may ever aspire to eternal salvation, until thou at length really showest thyself to be the fountain of life, when we shall enjoy that endless felicity which has been obtained for us by the blood of thine only begotten Son our Lord.

Amen.

  1. Glory Glory Glory… Hallelujah to the Lamb… and to him that sits on the throne.

  2. Amen!

  3. joining the ‘amen’ chorus of the “children” this morning – ‘all glory to Jesus, begotten of God. the great I AM is He. Creator, Sustainer and, wonder of all, the Lamb of Calvary…’
    our longed for King of Glory… Lord, sanctify this longing in our hearts and strengthen us in the hope of the glorious Day when Your will is truly done on earth as it is in Heaven.

    strengthen us Lord and bless us with Your grace and mercy thru these days…

  4. AMEN to all of the above!

    Let’s continue to pray for Daisy, Britt Merrick’s 6-yr-old whose cancer has returned.

  5. Amen and praying for Daisy and for our children.

  6. Our son’s friend Kevin is being held for eight days after his overdoses on oxycontin. Please pray he could be freed from this addiction and that he would come to a saving relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

    Our brother-in-law Jeff will be moved in the next week or so. He has made some progress but the road ahead is a long and hard one unless God intervenes. He is still pretty much in a coma and being fed through a tube. My sister has been a rock and model of faith. Please pray for her as this has been such a difficult time for her entire family. Thank you.

  7. Linnea and Erunner, joining you in prayer.

  8. Praise be to God! It’s often when I give up that God moves on our behalf. He is in control…and I am not. Praise you Father, your will be done.

  9. I need some prayer help…I’m having to deal on a daily basis with someone I frankly despise…and the feeling is more than mutual.
    It’s getting increasingly volatile and I’m unable just to avoid this person.

    I know the verses…just need some help with application.

  10. Praying, Michael.

    (amen, Believe, He is so in control and that doesn’t always mean sunshine and roses, eh? God have mercy on us poor sinners)

  14. Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

    Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
    Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    where there is injury,pardon;
    where there is doubt, faith;
    where there is despair, hope;
    where there is darkness, light;
    and where there is sadness, joy.

    O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
    to be consoled as to console;
    to be understood as to understand;
    to be loved as to love.
    For it is in giving that we receive;
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
    and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

    Denominations aside…

    This is beautiful

    God bless you all my beloved brethren

    Frank

  15. Thank you for posting that prayer, Frank. Blessings to you.

    Michael, praying for your application of those verses.

  16. Erunner,
    Thanks for the update on Jeff. Our brother-in-laws have been somewhat connected because of the timing of their trauma. Keith has had a much different recovery though … but although he has been given a second chance … the only remaining physical struggle is the lack of use of his right foot … he is sadly back to his destructive ways. It’s so hard to watch & not really be able to do anything but pray. So … in a way … it seems Jeff & Keith are still in need of the same prayer. Jeff is trapped in a body that needs healing … Keith in a mind that needs healing. So … we pray!

  17. today i am meeting with a realtor regarding putting my house on the market – for several good reasons, but none are critical (it would take an act of God to sell in this economy)
    prayer cover would be appreciated, tho – a quiet, accepting spirit and discernment needed

  20. Michael and Em,

    Prayers are ascending.

    Michael,

    Don’t forget to breathe.

  21. Headed back to Salem, Oregon today. Been in Maui after the surgery. A great place to slow down, relax, think, and process all my wife and I have been thru since April. I’ll be preaching for the first time in a month this Sunday…hope I haven’t forgotten how to do it!

  22. Our neighbor has two blood clots in each of his legs. He found out this morning and they put him on a blood thinner and sent him home. He’ll be giving himself one or two shots each day. Could you pray the clots would dissolve?

    My wife has a fractured elbow. Doctors can’t tell how long she has had it and she’ll see an orthopedic surgeon Friday. Her rheumatoid arthritis is tied into this and there appears to be bone loss. Could you pray for her arthritis and for a positive result for her doctor visit?

    Thank you.

  23. I visited my neighbor with the blood clots. Was having an excellent visit with him, his wife, and their daughter from out of town. The daughter who does not like me because I complained about the smoking came into the room saying the doctor was on the phone. As she walked by me she called me a vulgar word. As the phone conversation went on everyone was listening so they could know details. I excused myself and the daughter again said something to me which wasn’t vulgar but still pointed. I made the mistake of saying her name and to please lay off. She called me the same vulgar name and then out of the blue shoved me and I flew into the wall. I hit the front door and the knob put a hole in the wall. She was enraged and I was humiliated because this happened while her father is so sick and everyone became upset.

    Her sister, father, and mother came over and were so apologetic. They were very upset. The daughter told me call the police for battery but I can’t do that as things are so bad already. The parents asked me to just not come over when she was home. I only dropped by because my neighbor told me she was gone. This situation is a mess and I could use prayer as well as the whole family next door. The woman who seems to hate me completely needs prayer and some sort of professional help.

  24. Wow, E…that is harsh stuff.
    We’re with you and praying for you.

  25. Erunner, praying with – Lord, You know… we need Your daily supply; help us to focus on You and reflect You… keep this good servant of Yours close, strong and safe thru this assault; give his wife all that she needs and mercies besides. Father, Son and Holly Spirit – our lovely all sufficient God, praises to Your Holy Name.

  26. Lord, help us. Your children are dealing with family, friend and personal issues that sometimes overwhelm us. May we not be overwhelmed and only speechless as You direct and as we cry out to You in our messes for You to intercede. Many are mean spirited and I pray Your peace cover them or just remove them. Many are sick, some by their own bad choices and behaviors heal and restore. Don’t give up on us, please. May we see You work in the most impossible (for us) situations. And Thank You, and thank You, and thank You again~

  27. Erunner, praying.

  28. reading the list, ‘amening’ petitions and praises and praying this morning…

  29. My wife will be having surgery in a few weeks. She saw a specialist and he said her elbow is severely arthritic with bone spurs and synovial fluid build up. He can’t tell if there is a fracture although he said it’s possible. The surgery will improve her range of motion and address the pain she is having. Please pray the surgery goes well and that she doesn’t have problems with the anesthesia.

    I haven’t heard anything from my neighbors on how the blood clots are. They’ve been gone a lot and I’m staying off of their property while the daughter is home. It’s such a strange situation.

    I have a small bruise on my chest from where the woman shoved me. My right arm isn’t feeling right so I’m not sure how I’ll proceed. I’m hoping it gets better on its own.

    Thank you so much for your prayers.

  30. Erunner, praying – that elbow sounds soo painful – hope she has meds now

  31. Thank you for your prayers.

    Our neighbor was placed in the hospital two days ago. He has a bleeding ulcer that evidently was caused by baby aspirin. He has been removed from ICU into a regular room. Please pray for his health and for peace in their home. Thanks.
