  1. Is the rapture on the 23rd (of September)?

My gosh, do we even have to ask?

  2. I hope so.

  3. Not so sure that i would rush to blame John MacArthur on this rape incident…
i learned long years ago that there is an element in these churches that is incredibly naive or worse (probably worth a study) who, somehow, gain a pastor’s trust and set themselves up to protect and insulate their pastor as his protector, policing the church according to their own devious prejudices… they’ve done much more damage than anyone will ever know…
Do i know that this is the case in the incident linked to? of course, i don’t, but it does remind me that, over my lifetime, i’ve seen too many overworked pastors trusting the word of their little “in crowd” – people who are very good at ingratiating themselves with leadership… happens all the time out in the real world, too, of course… but shouldn’t happen in our fellowships
in any case, what is reported in the link is dastardly ugly… at best, a result of too much seeker friendly compromising goin on… or worse, the devil has gained another place in evangelicalism … and some other isms, too… IMHO

  4. In my opinion on Number one, JM I dont know, individuals in the institution I think they did allegedly cover it up. I also think this is typical of such situations in my opinion. Only in some faith communities do I feel like a germ or less.

In my opinion, the firing of Dr. Johnson was underhanded and despicable but it is also somewhat typical. There will be a bunch of handwaving but the lockstep brigade does not care and never has.

No offense this is just me but I dont think there will be a “Rapture”.

  5. rapture on the 23rd? i hope not, … i’ve got a hair appointment tomorrow and one of the horses is scheduled for surgery, too 🙂

  6. Wow, the article you found on Master’s College breaks my heart. Why are victims blamed and abusers defended?

Even the world realizes that is wrong, but too many of the supposed “godly” can’t seem to grasp it. And to make a rape victim go through counseling and church services sitting next to her attacker? What kind of a sick mind comes up with such a cruel idea?

If this is a true story, then the leadership of Master’s College needs… I don’t know what to say.

I’ll never know the truth about the incidents reported in the article, but our Lord certainly does. Lord, comfort the innocent and reveal wrongs done.I pray for justice and truth to come out, and for any perpetrators and accomplices to face justice for their crimes- that they would be stopped before others are hurt.

  7. As far as the Masters College story…we’re all waiting on a response from Holland and MacArthur on the matter.
My guess would be that this is just the beginning of a very ugly sequence of stories…

  8. joining EricL in prayer on this matter … it seems so few of the ugly things that creep into Church fellowships and affiliations are exposed to the light of day now in time… one thing is certain there is a great lack of fear of the Holy God, Who will call them to account – too much formulaic doing church as usual… or so it seems to me…

  9. I did some research on the Sept 23. Just more craziness. Some folks using astronomy, and proof texting to claim the end is near. It’s no wonder that nonChristians think Christians are crazy.

Time to get back to the Gospel, and knock off the hocus pocus.

  10. I agree that churches should serve communion every Sunday — or at least on the Sunday’s where a sermon is preached.

  11. What do you do with the thought police at Relevant?

    Neoprogressive Dread

  12. Philip Barton Payne does good work and holds a high views of scripture.

    .. Dread

  13. Just wow about the Master’s College, but not surprising. Have to protect the brand at all costs. If it isn’t the Master’s, it’s Penn State.

Just sick of these too big to fail or police institutions in this country.

But yes, God knows the truth and he will avenge.

  14. Is it my tablet? Or has someone tried to hide the Master’s College story behind a stone wall?

  15. JD,

    It’s still up…

  16. I was finally able to access the story by deleting the last characters in the address bar, and clicking on the resulting page’s preamble to the story.

  17. Did John MacArthur and the Master’s College cover up a Rape?

That’s like asking ___ (fill in the blank)…

I met a young woman whose body was burning
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow
I met one man who was wounded in love
I met another man who was wounded with hatred
    And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard
    It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall

  18. This response was posted on JM’s churches Facebook page.
” The ministries of Grace Community Church and The Master’s University and Seminary have been informed of the blog article posted on September 18 by a Ms. Marci Preheim on behalf of an undisclosed individual. Although there are both evidentiary and biblical limitations in dealing with anonymous accusations, we take all claims of misconduct very seriously. According to our initial internal inquiry and review of the available records, we believe the blog article is plainly incorrect, a reality that we have verified with the police report on record. In addition to the various inaccuracies in the posted narrative, the male student that was accused in the official report was never a student at either The Master’s University or Seminary. In our view, anyone who would post such accusations without first verifying them has committed an unconscionable act of defamation, and anyone who would spread such misinformation is equally culpable in that irresponsibility. Should the undisclosed individual or any other person who has direct, firsthand knowledge of this matter wish to address this issue with us, we would request that they contact Kent Haney at The Master’s University. “

  19. Interesting response. They don’t address the accusations against Master’s U administration, which I think are the most damning. Just a vague “various inaccuracies” claim and that the perp wasn’t a student there. No rebuttal on the claims of them not wanting a police report or insisting on counseling her and him together, nor of the stripping of her earned grades as retribution for her not “repenting”.

Maybe they are avoiding bringing up those specifics since most on their Facebook feed wouldn’t know about the details, but I wonder if they’ll have to address it elsewhere. I would think that the charge of tampering with earned grades could get them in trouble with any accreditation agency, if nothing else.
