O for a thousand tongues to sing
our great redeemer’s name;
To sing beyond ourselves, extravagantly,
with abandonment,
beyond our possibilities,
and all our fears,
and all our hopes…

to our redeemer dear, the antidote to death,
the salve to our wounds,
the resolve of our destructiveness…

A thousand, a million, a trillion tongues,
more than our own,
more than our tradition,
more than our theology,
more than our understanding,

tongues around us,
tongues among us,
tongues from our silenced parts.

Tongues from us to you in freedom and in courage,
Finally ceding our lives and our loves to your good care. Amen.

Walter Brueggemann

  1. the discussion on another thread among blessed Saints with differing understandings of the “requirements” of our Lord for us was a good center for me today as i fielded a few challenges (“few” is as many as i can field)
all that to say, this evening i’ve just been bursting with the joy of the Lord and thinking to myself, “whoa just stop and enjoy Christ and the privilege of the treasure that we have in these “earthen vessels”
    so… amen Brother Breuggemann, AMEN!

my body’s aching and my mind scrambled, but my heart is singing and i pray that i’m not the only one tonight

God keep all close and comforted

  2. I am so thankful for the many of you here who have prayed for our 5 week old grandson, Bennet. His mama reports that his heart and lungs are improving. Praise and thanksgiving!

However, he has reflux and this is dangerous in HLHS babies. Doctors are saying he may have to have another (his 3rd) surgery. I am groaning, sighing and hoping the Lord will touch his little body so that he can ingest his food without complication and pain.
    Lord, have mercy.

  3. If anyone reads this before 11:25 am PT tomorrow, I’d appreciate prayer. I teach at 2 different schools and BOTH of my principals are coming in to “observe” me. This is one of two formal observation/evaluations. I think I’m prepared, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not nervous.

  4. Lord have mercy on our Captain!

  5. Praying for you Captain!

  6. Praying, Kevin…and continuing to pray for baby Bennet.

  8. I mentioned this on the other thread yesterday, but this is a praise.

My 6 year old daughter asked Jesus into her heart.

We are very happy, of course. And thankful for the likes and comments on FB.

This didn’t come out of the blue for us, as we have made it a point to discuss things with her, without forcing the matter.

I asked her yesterday about how it happended, and she shyly looked away. I told her that I wanted to talk about it sometime, and let it go at that.

I don’t think she’s going to say it was because her parents are such shining examples. I am happy that my daughter made this decision at this time in her life.

  9. Good luck, Captain Kevin.

  10. posted once – it disappeared ? praying with … and praising for the little lamb who’s heard her Shepherd’s call

  11. Praying, Captain and also for baby Bennett. I’ve tried posting from my computer the last few days but nothing posts…Let’s see if this posts from my iPhone.

  12. Praising with Papias! 🙂

  13. Just got home from a job interview and would appreciate prayer. I have a background in commercial collection and while I’m pretty good at it I don’t normally apply for those types of positions, but getting desperate for employment I applied for a collections rep with a Law office. When they called for an interview I kept praying that it would be a reputable company and that I would have the stomach to call on clients behind in credit card payments. Well turns out they do loan mods and refi’s and I would be calling to collect fee’s due, and the best part, when I walked in they have scripture all over the place and made it a point to tell me they are a Christian owned company.

  14. jlo, praying that you get the job.

  15. Thank you MLD

  17. Praying for you, dear Jlo.

  18. DMW could really use some prayer right now.

  19. J2, thanks for the heads up.

  20. DMW and wife are in my prayers

  21. praying for dmw

  22. Just saw DMW’s post on Facebook. My heart aches for him. Dear God, isn’t there someone in Lake Elsinore that you can use to take care of this precious couple? John’s doctor won’t treat him, and he’s almost out of pain meds. His wife is having both mental and physical problems. John can’t care for her anymore, but no nursing homes will take her. God, I know that you will never leave or forsake them, but I’m sure it must feel like it right about now. Please Lord, have mercy, and step into this situation in a powerful way. I beg you in Jesus’ Name.

  23. God keep all close and comforted – praying for mercies and miracles beyond what we could think or ask on this night – Lord Jesus, we need You
