I’m glad to see a bigger name in Calvary Chapel call out K.P., although it was brief. Nonetheless, it was encouraging to hear and hopefully it helps to embolden other Calvary Chapel pastors to take action on and speak out about GFA, most especially those who support GFA. And even more so those who have allowed GFA to have a platform and gain support through their church.

I do find it ironic that Gallatin chooses to speak out about GFA by criticizing their religious practices and connecting it to the signs of the times and the end times. I guess nothing could be more old guard Calvary Chapel. Although I find GFA’s religious practices to be troubling and problematic, what I find to be even more disturbing are their moral problems. From the financial improprieties, to the potentially illegal activity, to its abuse of staff, to its deceptive behavior. But hey, it’s a start that a bigger name in Calvary Chapel is willing to publicly call out GFA, no matter how brief.

  8. I don’t know – we had this earlier and in our comments I made the point that people will be more concerned that he looks catholic vs be a thief.

This CC pastor seems to back this up.

And so it starts with a trickle… Yes, there are much bigger things in play then just the high church stuff. The missing money and other large sums that have been diverted from the poor to build for-profit businesses in KP’s wealthy home state are big news. Beyond that, I have my eye on KP’s “Servants Quarters.” According to ex-staff, young women who submit unquestionably to the religious system in Wills, Texas get put in a special group of personal servants for “His Eminence.” This is in the US. If he does that here, then I have no doubt that there is a counterpart in India of ladies even more taken with his supposed splendor. We evangelicals care all too little about lying and stealing from the pot. But let there be some smoke on the horizon of a possible sex scandal, and boy, we go absolutely nuts! If somebody goes public with anything like this, then watch the fireworks blaze very quickly. When I first heard of “Servants Quarters” I instantly thought of Bill Gothard getting kicked out of his own ministry because of decades of sexual grooming that went on, according to their former staff.

I met Bill Gallatin some years ago after he spoke at a conference. He struck me as a very kind man that was not afraid to call people into account, which he had gently done in the message that he had just given.

Thank you Bill for standing up and demanding that we live by a higher standard and justice.
