It’s all yours today…

  1. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I’ve been greatly enjoying reading David Bentley Hart’s translation of the New Testament. He promised that it would be a “pitilessly literal translation” with grammatical and tense errors faithfully represented. It is certainly quirky, but I think it does capture some of the “strangeness” of early Christian proclamation. I loved the translation of John 1:14 in which the ‘Logos pitched his tent among us”.

While I won’t use it as my preferred translation, I’ll certainly call upon it as a regular reference in Bible study…

  2. Bill Hybels sped up his retirement from October to yesterday. “I feel released from this role.” Same language Mark Driscoll used when slither away from the Mars Hill dumpster fire.

  3. David Platt made everyone mad at Together 4 the Gospel yesterday. It was awesome.

  4. “Logos pitched his tent among usโ€.

    That’s great! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. How much of the push back against Platt do you think was because the topic was racism, and how much was because the law was preached in its 2nd use (unto repentance), as opposed to its 3rd use as a guide?

  6. All racism jean. He could have applied those verses to abortion or homosexuality and it would be amens all around.

  7. It is time to lift this administration up to the Throne of God in prayer – pray that God give them strength and discernment to do His will, to bless and not curse us – no matter your political leanings…
Pray for the children in the Syrian areas as we try to take out the means to inflict them with chemical attacks… It makes no sense IMV to think that our nation can do what God, Himself cannot/will not do.
Barring a miracle of God, it feels like the same old story being prolonged…. But we do not want this to escalate, nonetheless. The more we pray, the better, eh? Or so it seems to me tonight…..

  8. Amen. I’m with em.

  9. So far this is such a cold spring….we are at 36 degrees now and suposed to get snow on monday. Ugh! We have two seasons here….snow and construction. Lol.

  10. dusty,

In Minneapolis, where I come from, they got 9+ inches of snow today.

    In April.

    Mid April.

    Supposed to be around 57.

    Ugh.

    Not my kind of spring.

80 here in the ATL today.

  11. Dan, i would love to have some of your temps. Lol. Looks like another month of cold for us. Lol

  12. Yikes! Another month?!?

There is a good reason I left Minnesota other than a job transfer.

  13. #13- Look at it this way: snow is better than mud and the weeds aren’t growing yet. ๐Ÿ˜˜

We had our 41st annual swallowfest up here today. – grey, but no snow or rain, my daughter was queen (the king or queen is the person who comes closest to guessing the date the swallows show up) Trouble was she was called in for an emergency, spent the whole night working …. But she put on her feathers, borrowed a pony and did the gig… Just a little community event, but this year over a hundred motorcycles showed up…. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ ?

It seemed strange with the other side of the world suffering so much real pain and chaos…. You could convince me that the end of the age is near, but i’m not buying MLD’s expectation…. not saying he’s wrong, just doesn’t come together the way i’m expecting…. But the way he presents dispensation/millenium views i can see why he not buying that one either

    God keep all

  14. I don’t know how I come up in a conversation about cold spring weather – but Em, you do believe dispensational end times thought exactly the way I describe them. Just the fact that anytime someone burps in the Middle East you jump to end times discussion. You believe in a line are, literal reading of Revelation with the future of ethnic, national Israel at the center as the Church gets removed.
    But nice try.

  15. Line are above should read linear.

  16. Congratulations, John20:29on your daughter being crown queen of the day! How fun!

You are right better a little snow than what is going on elsewhere!

  17. #19 Jim

My wife and I heard him speak on this a few years back. Made sense then, makes even more sense now… Thanks for posting this.

  18. Actually peace in the middle east would be more ominous than wars and rumors and… burps. ๐Ÿ˜

Stay safe in these Spring storms…. they are a force…. for good or evil, i’m not sure

  19. Personally I think we should have no presence, zero, nada in the Middle East.

  20. I agree with #22 – but i’ve also noticed that God often works outside our common sense. ๐Ÿ™†
