God of the ages,
you are the beginning of our journey
and our strength as we pause along the way.
Hold us by the hand as we grow,
show us where to seek you,
and guide our steps that we may find you.
Give us devoted hearts that we may love you,
and your peace when we reach our journey’s end.

  1. remember in prayer

Bob Sweat -I don’t post here much anymore; however, I read this blog every day. I’m thankful for the many friends that I have come to know these past 11 years. Most of you I have never met face to face.
Those who know me are aware of the struggle that I have had over the years regarding returning to pastoral ministry. Just last winter, I asked for prayer because I was being considered by a church in Washington. Shortly after requesting prayer, I removed my name from consideration because my wife and I were not ready to leave family. I asked God then to remove the desire to pastor again and help me be content with teaching at a Christian school, but desire is stronger than ever.
In recent weeks, my wife and I, after much prayer, have agreed that I should spend whatever time I have left doing what God called me to do. We are both on Social Security, and we are asking God to open a door to a small church somewhere in the US who want a pastor to love them and faithfully teach the Word. I have recently applied to churches in Idaho and Montana. My pessimism causes me to believe there are not many places that want a pastor in his senior years, but God knows.

Duane – Saturday night my old best friend, Jim, died of a heart attack at the age of 62 – leaving a wife and three children. I’m heartbroken. Please pray for his family.
My wife’s best friend, Norma, is in Santa Rosa. Her house is burning as I write. Please pray for her.

prodinov – I request prayer, still processing Ephesians 6. Young daughter got baptized recently. Little prayer warrior she is…my other little one, 5 is still is the making. However, this week, Monday after he peacefully went to bed, he was screaming upstairs, he was in a zombie state, curled up in a ball, still in a catatonic state, saying something was attacking him. He did not even acknowledge our initial prayers nor presence. Thinking nightmare, he slept with me for 3 nights. Last night, again in his bed, sound asleep, the attacks came and the wee one was unresponsive until I grabbed him, took him downstairs where he slept peacefully. I am still processing these dark attacks since they are unlike anything I have experienced. Prayers guys…it is unfair for a 5 yr old to be attacked….

  2. This is a really weird thing to pray about, but here goes….
We are doing a fundraising event next weekend. I haven’t been able to get my brain to work well enough to get an email out to our regular volunteers until today so basically, I’ve given most of them only a week’s notice.

We have 4 shifts available but only enough people signed up for one.

We need more people so we can fulfill our promise to the folks we are working with on this event.

I feel horrible about not being able to get my act together, but it is what it is at this point.

  3. It seems to be a tough month for everyone – praying for more manpower as I type, London

  4. Thanks dusty. I’m ok (thanks for including me) I pray for God’s protection and mercy upon my children, who’ve been through a lot, including witnessing domestic violence in the other home, and that I am strong and engaged enough to lead them so they don’t turn out like the sons of Eli. Yes, I always go worst case. I thank and praise God for that which I have been given to steward, especially my lambs.

And for Nor-Cal… horrible with little sign of stopping soon.

  5. Thanks Em.
    Been a rough few weeks.
Currently sitting in ER for the second night this week, with my mom who is two years out from surgery for pancreatic cancer and a week and a half out from back surgery for three fractures in her spine.
Caretaking is hard work at times and it seems that I lose track of time pretty easily. Weeks go by while I’m trying to get something simple like a broadcast email done.

  6. Praying for you and you mom london. And more helpers

  7. New victor, praying with you for your children.

  8. It sounds like London’s mom has entered that fragile stage of life – tough on both those women … joining dusty in prayer
God keep all safe in His comfort and strength now…
