Lately, she has added something else to this grueling schedule.

It used to be that when it was time for snacks or a meal she would stand by her dish(es) and eat as soon as the first morsel hit porcelain.

One day, she sat and just stared at me after I gave her food.

I assumed she didn’t like the food and got a different food.

It wasn’t until she nuzzled me and purred that I realized she wanted more than food.

She wanted attention and assurance of my affection.

I petted her and after a minute she ate.

This is our new routine.

It takes a little more time, but it’s worth it.

My cat is wise.

Somehow she has come to understand that the provision isn’t as important as the provider.

She has understood that if the provider loves her than there never need be a worry about provision.

Provision without love is a business arrangement, love that provides is a relationship.

Love…is the greatest provision of all.

My prayer life indicates that my cat is smarter than me.

I run into the throne room boldly with an empty dish in hand and yowl, then run back out to wait for it to be filled.

It rarely crosses my mind that my Provider fills it because He loves me.

It seldom matters that love is the greatest provision He desires to give.

I’ve heard that even dogs get this…

Make your own application…

  1. Love it! Thank you! You have one ‘lucky’ cat there…and she has one ‘lucky’ catDad….

Who says cats aren’t smart. Hahahahah

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

  2. Thank you, Paige!

    I’m well trained…

  3. how can something that makes one laugh have a spiritual application so deep?

the “people” that Michael loves are a spoiled bunch – they are blessed – more than they know? hmmm… they probably know

  4. Em,

Thank you for the kind words…

  5. Michael, lingering in His presence without concern for provision is something I got away from years ago. Thank you for this reminder. Blessings!

  6. I had a wonderful cat named Baby who used to stand by his dish of food and refuse to take a bite until I had thoroughly massaged the top of his butt. My husband found this horribly ridiculous and told me I was training the cat not to eat until I had petted him in his favorite way. But I was the one who was trained.

Miss Kitty is lots of fun to hear about.

  7. Thank you, Judy…she’s fun to share space with. πŸ™‚

  8. My wife is a cat, just ask her. And she expects at least as much attentiveness to her concerns. I am happy to oblige.

  9. A shout .out to Eric L. Drove thru your Yucaipa this morning. Me and Mrs MLD are driving to Lake Havasu for 4 days for our anniversary.

  10. Provision without love is a business arrangement, love that provides is a relationship.

    I like that line.

  11. Thanks, London!

  14. Howdy, MLD! Enjoy your weekend out in the desert, but it really shouldn’t take 4 days to get to Havasu. Try driving a bit faster. πŸ™‚

Good time to go if you’re a River Rat, before all the spring break crowds. Are you renting a houseboat?

As for Miss Kitty- I’m glad she adopted Michael all those years ago. I think he needed someone to bring order and a routine to his life. πŸ™‚
